We seek an assistant professor in the area of geological reservoirs characterization, a central topic in the Geosciences and Environment Department at the University of Cergy-Pontoise, with skills in experimental rock physics and geomechanics, and, for teaching, in general geology, geophysics and modelling, at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Experimental skills in rock physics and/or geomechanics are asked for; additional skill in microstructure characterization to assess storage capacity, transport properties, fluid-rock interactions and diagenesis is an asset. The research will focus on sedimentary reservoirs and geological formations that could host wastes
in situ. Applications will target in situ storage of solids (e.g. radioactive wastes) or fluids (e.g. CO2), hydrocarbon and geothermal reservoirs as well as renewable energy. The assistant professor will be encouraged to seek funding for developing his research.
The Department delivers an undergraduate degree (“Licence” in Earth Sciences and Environment), a graduate degree (“Master” in Earth, Planetary Sciences and Environment) and a master in engineering diploma (“CMI” Geosciences for the Energy). The assistant professor will have a primary role in the teaching of rock physics, geomechanics and geophysics, and an assistant role in general geology (Licence) and reservoir rock characterization (Master). The candidate should be able to teach in French. Part of the teaching duties will be in English.
Duties and responsibilities
The assistant professor will be involved in management duties in particular for the students of the Master in Engineering (CMI), like organization of internship and external mobility.
